Xerox ConnectKey 1.5 Software Update

Mobility and cloud access are a growing part of the productivity needs for todays SMB professional users. To respond to this, Xerox added new apps, products, and features into its ConnectKey 1.5 software technology. Among the changes, Xerox ConnectKey 1.5 software works with four new multifunction printers (MFPs) – including the WorkCentre 3655 B&W and WorkCentre 6655 Color A4/letter MFPs and the WorkCentre 5945 B&W and WorkCentre 7970 Color A3 MFPs. The updated Extensible Interface Platform 3.0 enhances the capabilities of these MFPs with tools like WebKit browser support, allowing Xerox partners to program custom control panel user interfaces for their apps and increase device functionality.

New Xerox ConnectKey 1.5 Cloud-ready Xerox MFPs

Xerox’s goal in providing managed print services via ConnectKey 1.5 is to help clients reduce costs and operate more efficiently. ConnectKey’s enhanced capabilities are an added bonus, and the A4 MFPs respond to customer needs for smaller, lower cost devices that maintain network access and solution compatibility. The cloud-ready ConnectKey-enabled MFPs give users more choices in speed and capabilities across the portfolio:

  • WorkCentre 6655 Color A4 MFP
60-sheet duplex automatic document feeder; maximum capacity of 1,250 total sheets; prints up to 36 pages per minute (ppm) in color and black-and-white.
  • WorkCentre 3655 Monochrome A4 MFP
Up to 47 ppm with a maximum capacity of 2,350 total sheets; large touch screen simplifies use.
  • WorkCentre 7970 Color A3 MFP
C-folding and Z-folding at up to 70 ppm in color and black-and-white; enhanced productivity and flexibility in app creation.
  • WorkCentre 5945/5955 Monochrome A3 MFP
New clean-sheet design offering sharp image quality made possible with LED technology and Emulsion Aggregation toner; the device prints from 45 ppm up to 55 ppm.

With Xerox App Studio 2.0, the new ConnectKey apps provide hosted cloud solutions including Microsoft Office 365, Dropbox, and DocuShare—scanning to and/or printing from these destinations. Xerox also includes an app to allow customers to print from a custom URL, for true “print-on-demand” needs.
